TikTok British Shopping Index 2025 leads fashion consumption and brand growth
TikTok recently released its first British Shopping Index 2025, which, based on consumption data from the first half of 2025, reveals five major consumption trends for social operators in the UK, covering comfort cowboys, festival fashion, celebrity effects, etc., and highlights the critical role of TikTok Shop in driving fashion consumption and brand growth.

Comfort-Driven Denim: Comfort-Denim: The demand for cosmopolitan jeans has surged, with orders increasing by 27 per cent over the same period. Brands such as RELA RELA’s “Stretchy Soft Dad Fit Jeans” have become TikTok Shop’s boom for loose design and practicality, reflecting consumers’ preferences for daily wear.
Festival Fits: Y2K styles (butterfly tops, transparent face, flash, Bohemia Wind) have become currents under the influence of music festivals such as Coachella, with a surge in search. Festival costumes are quickly distributed via short video and live broadcasts in TikTok, attracting young consumers.
Celebrity Fashion Momentes: Fashion searches are promoted by celebrities working together, such as Bad Bunny and Calvin Klein’s “barely-here” series, which has become popular and shows the continued expansion of star influence on TikTok.

Barely-Therere Sandals: A simple pair of sandals has been dubbed the “Summer Shoes King” and the effect of his long legs has been followed by “fashion girls”, with a significant increase in search volume in the first quarter of 2025.
Live Shopping: The brand promotes physical inclusion and simplifys the purchase process by showing a diverse model (different size and height) on a daily basis. According to Paul Mears, the director of TikTok UK retail sales, live shopping has re-emerged real-time interactions with purchases in traditional shops, with a significant increase in the number of live orders in the first half of 2025.

TikTok Shop grew its clients by 131 per cent in 2024 and sales by 180 per cent in 2024, and in 2025 it is expected that the number of monthly active users in Britain will reach 21 million (17.2 million in 2023). The data show that 58 per cent of TikTok users in the United Kingdom are purchased through TikTok Shop, 71.2 per cent are purchased because of the discovery of interesting commodities in dynamics or stories, and 55 per cent are used as an impulse. Women ‘ s clothing and underwear (14,900 shops, GMV $1.390 billion) and cosmetics and personal care (14790 stores, GMV $2.49 billion) are the most popular.
Live and shopping videos from TikTok Shop have enhanced user interaction, with 78 per cent of users discovering products through influencers and 49 per cent of those affected inspiring new brands. The brand works with influencers and with users to generate content (e.g. #TikTokMadeMeBuyIt).
