Epic Games Open Content Market Fab Direct Integration to Game Starter

Epic Gomes, the developer of Fort Night, officially launched a new open content market, Fab. The platform has been integrated directly into the Epic Game Launcher, where users can easily access market content for project development. The developer can browse the entire Fab repository without leaving the starter and manage all acquired assets.

Epic indicates that, through the Fab functionality in the starter, the user can download the resource in bulk and directly export the preferred digital content creation (DCC) tool. Fab resources support multiple document types and can be exported to mainstream engines and tools such as Unreal Engineering, Unity, Blender, 3ds Max, Maya and Cinema 4D. Users need to update to the latest Epic starter to access Fab. Upon update, Fab will appear under the “Unreal Engineering” column in the left navigation bar. The creator can preset the preferred file format and target DCC tool in Fab settings for quick export, and can screen the resource by storage location and quickly locate the stored local file.

The search results show that the page supports supersing and opening the commodity details page to facilitate quick preview of details before downloading. To celebrate the platform, Epic synchronized the largest Megascans update ever launched by Quixel, which is accessible with other resources from global creators. Epic also published a Fab development road map detailing upcoming functionality and improvement plans.

According to Epic: “In 2025, open parts of the Megascans material library will be made freely available to all users regardless of the engine or platform used. The new handbag will contain more than 1,500 carefully selected assets, including a variety of popular 3D materials, plants, trees, surfaces, flowers, defects and 10 Quixel packages that will be on line with Fab on the first day.”
